City Owned Property Sold in Bessemer

At the last meeting of the Bessemer City Council, a request by Jeremy Johnson and Melissa Anderson to purchase a property owned by the city was heard. TheDailyGlobe reports Johnson and Anderson asked to purchase the property on the corner of Mine Street and First Avenue. The council voted to sell the property for $1 with the condition that they start construction of a home within a year. The agreement also stipulates that they must submit a site plan to the city. With the sale of that property, a previous agreement with another buyer who did not initiate construction on the site was voided.
