The Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians community recently held a drug prevention seminar at the Northern Waters Casino in Watersmeet. More than 100,000 nationwide have died of drug overdoses between 1999 and 2021. Lac Vieux Desert Band Healing to Wellness Court Officer Amanda Bett stated that the event and events like it are key to bringing awareness to smaller communities, parents, youth, caregivers and educators. The founders of the Love, Logan Foundation’s, Erin Rachwal said she wants to educate parents on what their kids face every day when it comes to drugs, because they are everywhere, and parents need to know that.
