State Looking to Use Settlement Money in Two-Fold Plan

The Wisconsin Department of Heath has announced a plan for spending $36 million in funds from a major opioid settlement. According to public radio, there are two key directions the department would like to address. Investing in local efforts through education of young Wisconsinite and preventing overdoses. The department hopes to put almost $4 million of the settlement towards fentanyl test strips and Naloxone. The plan also calls for $6 million to be directed towards Wisconsin’s tribal nations. The plan is awaiting approval by the legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance.
