Ashland Making Improvements Connected to Oredock Project

Starting in May, Ashland will be getting a new road, that was an old road some twenty years ago. The AshlandDailyPress reports crews will extend Stuntz Avenue from Highway 2 to the oredock. The improvements are aimed at accommodating expected foot traffic once the walkway along the oredock is complete. The walkway will extend the entire length of the dock. Safety improvements include a pedestrian island halfway through the road and a flashing light to warn motorists that people are crossing. The project, expected to cost about $1.7 million with funding coming from a combination of grants along with $450,000 from the city from its capital improvement budget.
