The Issue of Parking in Bayfield Continues

BAYFIELD – Bayfield has a parking problem and the city has been considering fees for parking for several years now. According to TheAshland DailyPress, the city has cited concerns about paying for street repairs and cars left parked all day taking up spaces that shoppers could readily use. City officials drafted a pay for parking plan last year, with several options in the plan. Charging folks to park could put about $200,000 a year in the city’s coffers. There are a lot of opinions from local business owners and residents, many saying that whatever the plan, it has to offer options that benefit both locals and out of town visitors. City officials are waiting on the results of a consultants study on the matter before proceeding any further.
