The Phoenix House Outpatient Counseling Center in Bessemer had a special guest last week. Attorney General Dana Nessel stopped in to discuss how money from the opioid settlement announced in June had been distributed. According to the AG, all 83 counties in Michigan have received money, and a lot of the counties haven’t earmarked it for use yet. Talking to municipalities to let them know how they can spend that money was the reason for her visit. The money distributed to counties and municipalities can be used any number of ways so long as its connected to opioid use. Nessel said once back in Lansing, she would review all the feedback and address questions regarding the settlement.
