Town of Cable in Bayfield County Holds Public Meeting About Former School Site

Now that the Cable School building off Kavanaugh Road has been demolished, the town has to decide what it’s going to do with the lot. TheAshlandDailyPress says the town in Bayfield County used a $150,000 grant to redevelop the site, part of which was used to demolish the old school building. More than 90 people attended a listening session last week to give their thoughts on the project. A number of options were discussed, including a public park, affordable housing in various configurations and an open area which would allow for open-air markets to draw tourism. Town officials said the listening session is just a first step. The Cable town board intends to have more meeting to continue to gain ideas from the community.
