Roadwork Projects in Michigan Paused to Ease Memorial Day Traffic

Michigan AAA estimates that more than 1.2 million residents will travel a least 50 miles from home this Memorial Day weekend. The Michigan Department of Transportation has lifted lane restrictions on 81 of 146 road work projects through Tuesday morning. Equipment and certain traffic configurations may remain, but most projects will be paused to ease traffic. Acting State Transportation Director Brad Wieferich says “With holiday traffic expected to be back to nearly pre-pandemic levels, this is a great time to remind drivers of safe habits as everyone takes to the road. There’s a record amount of roadwork going on in the state thanks to Governor Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program.”
