At the most recent meeting of the Bessemer Parks and Recreation Commission, members decided to implement a three year plan to improve the fishing pond in Bluff Valley Park. TheDailyGlobe reports the pond could use some clean up work before being able to stock it, and discussion amongst commission members was that doing so was not out of the question. Looking for grant funding to finance dredging the pond to clean it out was discussed, as well as looping the Gogebic Conservation District on the project. City Manager Jennifer Adams said gathering cost estimates and projections for the project, including those for the grant application progress should be a priority. The commission’s next meeting is June 1st.
