Property Values in Gogebic County Are Up

Property values in the state are up by about 5%, and that increase includes Gogebic County. TheDailyGlobe reports the county equalization director Kathy Jo Koval gave the County Board of Commissioners at their meeting last week. Koval said the total value of the county’ real and personal property increased by 13% over last year. When asked how much money the county could make in property taxes, Koval aid there will be more, but that amount will be offset by the Headlee Rollback, which is 7.9% . Koval also reported that currently properties in the area are selling well, in many cases more than they’re worth.
