Wakefield City Council Moves Ahead With Grant Application for Campground Improvement
This past Monday, the Wakefield City Council met and voted to apply for state grant funding to help finance expansion of the Eddy Park Campground. TheDailyGlobe reports that if the application is approved, the grant would provide $300,000 towards the $2.5 million project. The resolution passed by the council states that the city would provide $90.000 in matching funds, which would be allocated from Wakefield’s 2024-25 budget. The proposed expansion would include 5 cabins with electric power among other facilities for camping. In addition to the Department of Natural Resources grant, which must be submitted by April 1st, the council plans on also applying for a $1 million Spark grant.
