Water Well in Greenland Township with Unknown Source Garnering Some Attention

The water well in Greenland Township that the state ordered the Department of Natural Resources to shut off is now the focus of some attention. State Senator Ed McBroom and Representative Greg Markkanene are asking residents for any information on the source of that well. Old photos show the pipe at one point supplied the water tank for the steam railroad that served Lake Mine. It is unknown if the well is from an artesian source or flowing from the old mine. Digging up the pipe to track its source may ruin the quality of the water, and if its a a true artesian well, it may be legally possible to keep it open for public use.
