With its parent company declaring bankruptcy, the Sears Hometown in downtown Ashland has been put up for sale. Local retailers like Ashland’s Sears Hometown earn commissions selling those goods, and the bankruptcy means retailers are losing their sole supplier of products,The DailyPress reports the building on Third Street was sold last in 2015 and has now been valued at almost twice its value from its last selling price. The bankruptcy likely puts an end to local Hometown stores that tried to stay in business during the decline in department store and mall revenue.
