City Commission Hears Report and Request for Skating Loop in Downtown City Square

The Ironwood City Commission heard a proposal of projected costs for the city to open and maintain an ice skating loop the Downtown City Square for roughly 8 weeks. TheGlobe reports that City Manager Paul Anderson said projected costs would be almost $6,000. One of the main bits of feedback from last year’s operation was that volunteers were overwhelmed by the amount of work involved and the council asked if the city manager could come back with some costs of hiring employees and using city equipment to move snow. Anderson also said he’d had inquiries regarding a group wishing to hold broom ball or other activities in the loop, and said he needed more details.
