More than 50 kilometers of cross-country ski trails were open over the holiday weekend. According to WXPR, after snowfall of more than 30 inches last week, skiers say the trails are in unheard of condition for this time of year. People are driving from across Michigan, Wisconsin and even Minnesota to hit the trails in the area. Groomers have been out in force getting the tails into shape. Angela Santini, co-owner of ABR trails cautions skiers to be careful along river frontage and marsh areas, since they haven’t frozen hard yet. And, she says, the lower trails won’t be open til after deer season is over.
