Late last week, members of the Gogebic Board of Commissioners finance team and other city officials were given a demonstration by the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team of a recently purchased drone. The Globe reports the board funded the $18,000 purchase as an upgrade to the existing drone currently in service. The new drone package package has longer battery time, four cameras with a laser range camera and a more powerful motor that can fly further and operate in bad weather and in the dark. The camera resolution is so good it can detect the impressions of footsteps in the snow. It also has GPS tracking in case of a breakdown. The old drone will be kept as a backup
