A call made to the 911 call center in Ashland stating that there was a gunman at the Ashland Middle School yesterday afternoon has proven to be a hoax. The DailyPress reports that Ashland Police and Ashland County Sheriff’s deputies accompanied by officers from several other jurisdictions searched the building and cleared the school to ensure students were safe. Officers then searched all other Ashland schools as a precaution.Erring on the side of safety, the nearby Memorial Med Center was also locked down. About a dozen schools in the southern part of the state were victims of similar calls Thursday. The FBI issued a statement saying it was tracking the incidents.
