Ashland Small Business Owners May Soon Get A Leg Up

A new grant program aimed at entrepreneurs who’ve had trouble finding funding to start or expand their businesses in Ashland will soon get a leg up in the form of a $2 million grant from the state. According to the DailyPress, the program is aimed at historically underserved communities of color and sex that have been hit hard by the pandemic. The grant program is part of a $100 million federal project funded by the American Rescue Plan Act. Wisconsin Department of Administration Secretary-Designee Kathy Blumenfeld said state officials were very impressed by Ashland’s grant application, saying that the county represented exactly the kind of community the state is seeking for the funding.
