Another Phone Scam In The Area Prompts Law Enforcement Attention

The Michigan State Police want residents to know there is another phone scam ring operating in the area. A person who pretends to be an employee with the Drug Enforcement Administration or other law enforcement agency calls and then tells their victim they have an outstanding warrant for their arrest and that the warrant has a fine that can be paid with gift cards. The Michigan State Police reminds you that no law enforcement agency will ever ask for prepaid gift cards to deal with a fine or warrant. Also, law enforcement agencies will not contact you by phone on matters of enforcement. If you receive a suspicious call, law enforcement recommends hanging up, blocking the number and reporting the incident to the police.
