Cruise Ship Octantis Unable to Stop At Bayfield Due to High Winds

Strong winds on Lake Superior made docking in Bayfield Harbour impossible for the first voyage of the Viking Octantis recently. The 672 foot long, 30,000 ton Octantis began its first tour of Lake Superior in Thunder Bay and will be stopping in the U.P. before moving on to Milwaukee. The first stop at Bayfield had been in planning for months and was disappointing to those who planned the trip at Great Lakes Shore Excursions of Milwaukee. The ship is slated to make six more stops at Bayfield during the cruise season, with the next stop scheduled for the 28th.
