Pancake Breakfast Earns Money for Skatepark

The pancake breakfast held this past Sunday held by eighth grades students from the Wakefield-Marenisco School district raised $3,600 toward the construction of a skateboard park in the city. According to the Daily Globe, the breakfast held at the Wakefield VFW Post 9084, was the brainchild of students after being surveyed by the city planning commission about what type of recreation they’d like to see in town. The kids said a skate park, as traveling to surrounding parks was too far. The commission approved the project, and the kids started raising money. They have more than reached their goal, so the additional funds will be used for upkeep of the park, which should be ready by the end of the month.
