The Bessemer School board is going to have to figure out what to do about the light posts on Massie Field. The Daily Globe reports the poles are starting to show signs of age, and need to be repainted, as well as needing bulbs replaced. The board is looking at options, like removing the poles and having them replaced with lower poles, replacing the current bulbs with more efficient L.E.D. bulbs. The lights are only used a few times each season and the cost just to paint is well over $32,000, of which the booster club has only been able to raise about half. The board agreed more investigation into options will be necessary before making a decision.
