Watershed Conservation Efforts Receive Support

A couple of local organizations have received grants to support watershed conservation and educational efforts. The grants are issued by The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s Nonpoint Source Program or EGLE, which helps local stakeholders reduce pollution and excess runoff by supporting efforts to develop and implement watershed management plans. The Iron County Watershed Coalition and Michigan Tech University each received $40,000. EGLE says the program anticipates issuing a request for proposals for planning projects later this spring and the annual request for proposals for implementation projects in mid-July.
