The Bessemer Library is looking for help with three community engagement projects in the area and has applied for grant funding. According to the Daily Globe, librarian Melissa Lupino said that she applied for two grants being offered by AARP, one of which would provide money for recreational equipment intended to be used on the new Iron Belle trailhead to be built south of city hall. The equipment would encourage people to try before they buy. Another grant would provide funding to put in raised garden beds for those who have access issues with regular gardening, and the third would be used to provide summer activities at the library.
