The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has said in its latest release of COVID-19 guidance that there are eight counties in Michigan that should still be wearing masks both indoors and outdoors, including Ontonagon and Gogebic in the U.P. Both counties are still experiencing severe levels of viral infection, and that could mean continued strain on the local healthcare system. The other counties involved also include St. Clair and Sanilac counties in the thumb area, Clinton and Eaton in mid-Michigan, Mason County along the western shore and Luce. Those who are at risk of severe disease or have compromised immune systems may wish to take extra precautions.
