Certain Jobs Are In Deep Need in the U.P.

Fire departments in northeastern Vilas County are in need of first responders and EMTs, calls have increased and staff is struggling to keep up with them. Nearly a third of the
workforce left their ambulance company after less than a year in 2020, according to a survey by the American Ambulance Association. Fire departments in northeastern Vilas county are holding a training orientation on April 12th, and a 9-week training course will start April 26th, in the Conover-Phelps area. Registered nurses are encouraged to consider becoming EMTs, as they would not need to go through all the coursework.
