When the Bessemer City Council met on Monday, representatives from Republic Services were on hand to participate in the discussion issues the city has been having with the waste disposal company. Currently, residents contact the city if they’re having a problem with pick up. General Manager for Republic asked the city council for a list of residents phone numbers so that customer service calls could be made when there are issues with scheduling and pickups. City manager Charly Loper agreed with the idea with the proviso that Republic would sign a statement promising not to sell customer information.
