Legislation recently signed by Governor Whitmer will expand certain county term limits. County Commission board members will begin serving four-year terms starting in the 2024 voting cycle. Right now, their terms run concurrently with state representatives and voting happens every two years. Supporters of the legislation say they hope it helps county officials focus on governing rather than on election-year politics.
