Gogebic County residents have once again come together to help their neighbors. Many Ironwood residents have contributed to this year’s Canathon, and Ironwood utilities manager Bob Tervonen says he isn’t surprised. When he moved to the area in 1990, he noticed that Gogebic county didn’t have any can collections, so with the help of local media, he established the Canathon. Donations come from all over the area, Hurley, Ironwood and Bessemer just to name a few. So far about 75 pounds of food have been collected and folks have through the end of the week to donate.
