Iron County Decides Broadband Bond Too Risky

Iron County Board of Supervisors earlier this week decided against joining a multi-county bond to support financing for a company to install broadband infrastructure in rural areas. The board had approved a non-binding resolution in September to study the bond issue and held a public hearing earlier this month. The bond would have meant an unconditional county guarantee of sharing in an $8 million dollar bond. Joe Pinardi, board chair said after having a couple of weeks to consider the bond, members felt it was too much of a financial commitment to put into a local private entity.
