The water treatment plant for Ironwood is progressing on schedule, but there’s some concern about the increased cost of materials and construction, according to an update provided to the city commission earlier this week. The design phase is almost done, and with approval of the site plan, construction could begin as early as January. However, the report given to the board was done 2 years ago, and did not take into account recent market developments due to the pandemic. The project manager for the design phase Chris Larson says although there is concern, every effort will be made to keep costs down, issuing the job for bidding at a good time so contractors can get it on their schedules and give the best bid.
