Fumes from the epoxy coating on the Pat O’Donnell Civic Center will keep anyone from working in the building until the floors have cured for a week. Despite the issue with the epoxy fumes, the rink is on schedule for a grand opening some time in October. There are still lights in one of the locker rooms and a hallway to be installed, as well as sandblasting, repainting and reinstalling the original rink nets before the season starts. Tentative grand opening plans include a ribbon cutting and flag raising ceremony, followed by free open skating, as well as an alumni hockey game. The next Civic Center board meeting will be held on the evening of October 4th at the center.
