DROP IN STATE FUNDING COULD AFFECT PROGRAMS AT GOGEBIC COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Gogebic Community College President George McNulty expressed concern about a possible reduction in state funding for the school of over 18% if the proposed budget recommendation funding model is enacted by the House Appropriations committee. the effect would be felt both this fall and cumulatively over the next three years, causing the college to make drastic choices to keep the school operational. McNulty stated that GCC is vital to the educational, economic and social well being of the Western U.P., and this initial budget proposal is disappointing.
