The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners approved a bid to Otis Elevator company to repair the elevator in the county courthouse. The repairs come in at just under $35,000 and would refurbish the lift as well as keep the unit in good standing with the state elevator inspector. The county administrator has kept the board apprised of the elevator’s condition and the board found the repairs to be necessary to the only elevator in the building. The board also approved a recommendation to seek a cost estimate that identifies the major repair needs of county facilities, so as not to spend piecemeal on repairs and construct a plan for long term maintenance .
