The recent bout of cold weather has been a boon to area businesses, especially resorts. According to the Daily Globe, accommodations and precautions for COVID-19, light snowfall, and below zero temperatures are a challenge for any resort, according to Bruce Noren, co-owner and general manager of Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Ironwood Township. Yet, he says, the season is going better than expected. Powderhorn did close on the previous two Sundays because of the cold, he said. Overall it could be a lot worse,” Noren said. “the number of skiers that we’ve seen this year has surprised us, and we didn’t expect that we would see as many as we are and so we are pleasantly surprised by that.”
