Nicolet College President Kate Ferrel was elected Chair of the Vilas County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors at their Dec. 12 annual meeting, succeeding Jim Tuckwell. Ferrel, whose term begins January 1, 2026, will advance VCEDC’s economic growth initiatives. With over 25 years in Wisconsin’s technical college system, focusing on workforce and economic development, she brings significant experience to the role. Ferrel is committed to strengthening economic opportunities through local partnerships. Ferrel said she was eager to collaborate with the VCEDC board members, executive director, and the surrounding communities to advance Vilas County.
