Ironwood Mayor, Commissioners To See Raise After November Elections

At the last meeting of the Ironwood City Commissioners, a proposal to give the mayor and commissioners pay raises after the November election was passed. Commissioner pay will increase to $90, and the mayor’s to $130 per meeting. This aligns with regional averages and simplifies calculations. Currently, commissioners average $46 per meeting or $1,100 annually, and the mayor $74 or $1,780 annually. Under the new structure, two meetings monthly would yield $2,160 annually for commissioners and $3,120 for the mayor, excluding special sessions. The current pay doesn’t compensate for committee work, preparation, or constituent communication. All members unanimously approved the proposal.
