On Wednesday in Ironwood, veterans got a chance to experience bike riding with adaptive options. Limitations to mobility can take the pleasure of a nice bike ride in the summer out of the picture for many. The Superior Alliance for Independent Living or SAIL partnered with Veteran’s Affairs to give physically challenged vets an option. SAIL and the Iron Mountain VA brought trikes that offered low impact and no balance alternatives to regular bikes. SAIL Health & Wellness Program Manager Timothy Schumann said there aer lots of great places in the U.P. to ride, and with the adaptive bikes, more folks can take advantage of that healthy pastime. The goal is to show veterans in Gogebic County that there are different cycles that are available to themno matter what their mobility concerns or abilities are. The workshop was hosted in Stormy Kromer’s parking lot and those in attendance received a store discount card. The next adaptive bike expo will be held on July 2nd at Houghton Baptist Church.
