Ontonagon’s only animal shelter will hold its First Annual Dinner and Auction Fundraiser next Sunday. Ontonagon County Animal Protection needs to raise at least $50,000 a year to operate as a no-kill shelter, taking in and finding homes for around 50 cats and 30 dogs a year. trustee & dinner organizer Janet Wolfe says vet bills and utilities are the largest expenditures for the shelter. Those attending the dinner and fundraiser will be treated to a chick and spaghetti dinner at Twilly’s in Bruce Crossing. There will also be bucket and 50/50 raffles and an auction. Items up for bids include a boat cruise to the Apostle Islands, a foosball table, and an electronic keyboard. Tomorrow is the last day to purchase tickets, and if there are any remaining, they will be available by phone on Monday or Tuesday. Go to ocappaws.org/events for more.
