The Fall Ride in Tomahawk last weekend brought a lot of visitors to the area, which normally means a boost to business. But for several businesses in Arbor Vitae, the extra traffic brought trouble, in the form of counterfeit bills. And where usually a business can use one of those special markers to detect fakes, this time the pens didn’t work. A local customer paid their tab at Heart 2 in Arbor Vitae with a hundred dollar bill that came up as fake. The regular had no idea how they got the counterfeit bills. The owner of Heart 2 said they decided to buy a couple machines that can read the authenticity of bills passed in the bar. Local authorities were notified of the fake bills and are investigating.
