Rollover Accident in Iron County Claims Two, One Seriously Injured

Two have died and one remains hospitalized after a crash in Iron County over the holiday weekend. The Iron County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened Sunday evening on Gibbs City Road near Iron Lake Road just before midnight. Deputies and Aspirus EMS arrived on scene to find a Honda Pilot rolled over in a ditch. It appears that the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the road. A 72-year-old female passenger was removed from the wreck and was transported to Aspirus Iron River Hospital and was then tranferred to Wausau Hospital with serious injuries. The 77-year-old driver from Pennsylvania and another passenger, a 72-year-old woman from California were both pronounced dead at the scene. All of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not thought to be a factor. The accident is under investigation.
