An assistant professor at Northland College wasn’t surprised when he found out he was let go due as part of the bid to keep the school open. Joshua Montgomery said his family had built a life in Ashland over the last few decades and now that he must look for another position, he and his family will leave Wisconsin. TheDailyPress reports also let go were tenured staff, and in lieu of the contracted one-year notice, they were given a year’s salary and benefits when they were told. Northland now has 31 faculty remaining which next year will just offer eight majors. Previously, the school offered more than a dozen majors and some minors. This Fall, officials of the school hope to see 385 students enrolled, down from 400 last semester.
