Ironwood Gets Drinking Water Grant

State grants have been awarded to seven municipalities in the Upper Peninsula to upgrade their water infrastructure. Ironwood has been given just over $11 million from the Drinking Water State Revolving fund to replace about 15,000 feet of water main and associated lead and galvanized water service lines in the northwestern part of the city. Another 40 lead service lines will be replaced in the city as well. Also getting grants to identify or verify lead service lines are Gaastra, Chassell Township, McMillan Township, Rockland Township, the Villages of Alpha and L’Anse.
