At the meeting of the Ironwood School Board earlier in the week, Superintendent Travis Powell announced his resignation. TheDailyGlobe reports Powell told the board he has been offered a position with the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District as a director of instructional services. Powell continue with the district through the end of June, while the board forms its plan to search for a new superintendent. The board will schedule a meeting to work on the job description to be posted as well as structuring the interview process. Powell, who has been superintendent for the last six years said he felt he had helped the district do great work during his tenure.
