The Wakefield Post of the Michigan State Police are gathering new and used purses or bags filled with comfort items, to be donated to the DOVE Shelter and then given to survivors of physical and sexual abuse. Items to fill the purses will also be gratefully accepted. Donations for Purses with Purpose are being accepted through the month of April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness month. Donations can be dropped off athe Michigan State Police Post in Wakefield, the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department or the Ironwood Office of Public Safety. Purses With A Purpose is supported by the Michigan State Police’s Women Leading Change empployee resource group.
