Wakefield Going to Take Another Run at Park Expansion and Dog Park

The city of Wakefield will once again apply for two grants from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources . TheDailyGlobe reports the city will submit for a MDNR Trust Fund Grant, to expand the Eddy Park Campground, and to create a dog park east of the Skate Park at Eddy Park. There was resistance to applying for the grants from residents, saying rather than expanding the campground spaces, simply charge more for the current permits and that those living in the area of the dog park didn’t want to be disturbed by barking dogs. The city’s total matching responsibility for the two projects would be around $125,000. Despite public reservations, the City Council voted to submit applications for both grants.
