At the last meeting of the Arbor Vitae-Woodruff School Board, a group of parents spoke to the board and asked that teacher Susan Jurries be rehired now that her teaching license had been renewed. Jurries had been terminated after her license had lapsed. It’s unclear whether Jurries was aware that her license had lapsed. TheLakelandTimes reports school board president Judith Nelson said Jurries license had been revoked for a non-school related reason, and that state statute clearly points out that all teachers must be licensed. The school board agreed to hire Jurries back for the rest of the school year.
