A judge has ruled that the 50-year easement appraisals for the rour roads involved in the DOJ lawsuit against the town of Lac du Flambeau must be unsealed. TheLakelandTimes reports Judge Stephen L. Crocker in U.S District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin announced the ruling last week. The Department of Justice suit contends that the town is engaged in intentional and unauthorized use and occupancy of tribal lands as part of the towns’ road system.” The dispute over easements began in January of last year, and since then the dispute has caused a number of suits to be filed. The unsealing of the appraisals was made by the town of Lac du Flambeau’s legal team as part of the discovery process in the DOJ lawsuit.
