Impromptu Discussion at City Council Meeting Brings Issue with Possible Housing Project to the Table

The Bessemer City Council last Monday discussed a housing project in the city that may start construction this summer. TheDailyGlobe reports that the topic was addressed during the public comment session of the meeting. Project Developer Chad Bucknell, who owns Bessemer Small Engine, let the city know that he’s requesting tax-exempt status for the complex proposed for south of the Iron Belle Trail between South Moore and South Clayburg Streets that Bucknell called the Iron Belle Apartments. Bucknell was advised to submit documentation regarding his plans and get the project on the council’s agenda.
