More information on the construction of a joint response garage that would house sheriff’s office and public service vehicles has been requested by the Vilas County Board’s public property committee. The 1600 sq. ft. garage would been attached to the current garage. According to TheLakeLandTimes, the new addition would be heated and a van used by Vilas County Public Health and the county’s office of emergency management would be parked there. Funding for the addition would come from a $375,000 federal grant the health department has already received. That funding needs to be spent by the end of this year. There are still a number of questions regarding the project, which is just starting to solidify. The next step is information, in the form of what other municipalities have done and then its on to discussing the design.
